St. Peters and the Sistine Chapel, Blah

Okay, you know how everyone knows of the Sistine Chapel? And it's SO grand? And that it is like, SO fancy and it was painted by Michelangelo and it is like, one of the coolest things in the world? Well, when something is popular, you have big expectations. And when you have big expectations, the real thing never meets them.

When we were in the Vatican Museum, Siena and I were getting veeeeeeeeeery bored. We constantly would ask, "Is this the Sistine Chapel yet?" because all the rooms and especially the ceilings were very grand.
When we finally got there, it was like, this is it? I mean, the ceiling was nice, and we spotted out the most famous parts, but it was SO crowded you couldn't move!!! And the Guards kept yelling at everyone to be quiet when they should have been quiet themselves!!! And Grote Kerk in Haarlem, The Netherlands had a MUCH fancier Alter and other things like that!!! So overall, Siena and I were disappointed. I don't know about Mom and Dad.

Then we went to St. Peter's Basilica. The Square in front of it was very beautiful!!! The outside of the Basilica was very pretty too! The Dome was amazing, but the inside just seemed like a normal church!!! Maybe if we went to Italy first it might have seemed much grander, but after 4 other countries filled with churches, it was just an enormously large church to us!!! Nothing special. So if you ever go to Rome, don't come with enormous expectations, they won't be met.

*The picture of the rounded gold and coloured ceiling above is not the Sistine Chapel; you were not allowed to take pictures of it.*

i also thought that many of the other chapels were just as, if not more beautiful than the Sistine. Loving the blog.
