FAMOUS
We were walking out of our hotel in Jaipur one morning to get a tuk tuk (auto rickshaw) into town. As we climbed into the cab, another tuk tuk driver came running after us saying "You are in the paper; wait here." We had no idea what he was talking about but we waited. He soon came out with a copy of the Rajasthan Patrika, a Hindi language newspaper and pointed to the picture in the corner of page 2. There we were - Marty, Siena, Avocet and I holding hands and walking through the old city of Jaipur.
About 6 months ago, there was a bomb blast in the old city set off by Islamic Fundamentalists. Since then, tourism has been down. On the day the picture was taken, the Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds) had the highest number of foreign tourists since the bomb blast. Our family picture was to show the population that the tourists are now back and that is is safe to be here - even with children!
